McKellen, 85, became famous for his performance as the wizard Gandalf in Peter Jackson's "The Lord of the Rings" trilogy, for which he was nominated for an Oscar for "The Fellowship of the Ring"
The film "The Hunt for Gollum", which was announced by Warner Bros. this spring, Andy Serkis will direct and star. The premiere is scheduled for 2026.
